In the dryer (okay, maybe that’s not such a good idea, Roy) . . .
Or in an Aqua Fina bag (okay, Roy, now you’re scaring me). Always the clown and always a favorite, no one entertains quite like our Roy!
Okay, it will be hard to beat my Roy photos but stay with me for the most amazing rescue story of all – the story of my miracle boy, Chester. Picked up as a stray at my daughter’s school in the fall of 2004, Chester was bone-thin and within hours of death. My daughter had spoken of this “skinny” cat at her school but the tragic memory of what my eyes beheld on that fateful day will be with me forever.
As I approached this cat from among the crowd of gathered school children, my heart went into overdrive and within seconds I had scooped Chester up and was racing for help. As sick as he was, poor Chester purred madly all the way to a local area vet, as if praying that I would not abandon my efforts to help him. He was so fragile that I had to wrap him in a blanket to keep from breaking his bones. Weighing in at only three pounds, this full grown Russian blue was de-clawed, starving, dehydrated, flea and parasite infested, and very, very sick. Though I doubted that he would live through that first night, I made him as comortable as possible and throughout the night begged God in His mercy to save him. By nothing short of a miracle my Chester survived and for the next week managed to eat and drink, though he never stood to his feet. When finally able to stand, his gait was so weak and staggering that he could take only a few steps before falling.
Of course, you KNOW the rest of THIS story – With constant vet care, love and attention, Chester fought his way back and behold, my beautiful boy now . . .
But Roy has one little habit that's not so manly - He loves to sleep in Mommy's arms!
